The principal gave Michael a hall pass today for the rest of the trimester. I wrote him an email thanking him for that kindness. I said I also used to tell my employees please dont come with a complaint unless you have taken time to think of a solution. I offered the solution that an assembly be called talking about how to treat other with human kindness and to acknowledge their human rights. The school would acknowledge the students by not giving out any more detention or citations if they ran out of hall passes. They would have a hall pass in each classroom with a sign out sheet, time it was taken and returned for students who had used theirs up. In return, students would acknowledge teacher and administration human rights by not abusing this and teachers could see how long they were signed out and look for trends or problems. Its a basic conversation to have with these kids. I asked that we dont go on the premise that all kids are disruptive or that all kids are disruptive all the time. And I offered to be a part of this and help. So we will see. Peace, peace, peace, Om Shanti Om. Be the change we wish to see in the world.
