The problem with what seems to be the new model of employment is that it requires no loyalty by the employer which engenders no reciprocal loyalty resulting a pisspoor service which ultimately concludes in a failed business. Those most affected are evidently those gullible enough to trust a company who showed no consideration or loyalty to their staff. They belong to the old world and failed to adapt to the new paradigm. The bottom line is if your employer shows no reward or respect for your loyalty, nothing but the bare minimum effort should be offered in return and never allow them to clock up large wage debts with you. If they aint paying, you aint working. Thats how they wanted it, thats how they can have it.
