Ms. Bainum shows off her coloratura soprano in her new recording: Simply. 8:00-9:00: April in Paris: Sweet Sounds visits Paris to hear April In Paris, I Love Paris and Poor People of Paris.. Legendary French troubadours Maurice Chevalier, Charles Aznavour, Charles Trenet and Gilbert Becaud will be featured. April 13 7:00-8:00: Karen Oberlin: Cabaret and recording star discusses her new CD with Sean Harkness: A Wish and also her upcoming tribute to Doris Day at Birdland. 8:00-8:30: Phantom of the Opera: Highlights from the original cast recording of the longest running Broadway musical ever. 8:30-9:00: Les Miserables: Les Miserables was the longest running musical in Broadway history when the show ended it’s run. This program will feature selecrions from the 25th anniversary 2010 orinal cast recording. April 20 7:00-9:00: Tribute to Frank Loesser: First as a lyricist, then as composer-lyricist Frank Loesser was a giant of the Great American Songbook. His hits include: On a Slow Boat to China, Baby It’s Cold Outside and Two Sleepy People. In addition he wrote the scores for Guys and Dolls, Most Happy Fella and How to Succeed. April 27 7:00-8:00: Julie Budd: Julie Budd pays a return visit to the Sweet Sounds to debut her newest CD; They Wrote the Songs and chat about her upcoming Metropolitan Room appearance 8:00-9:00: Hits of 1957: Elvis toped the charts, but there was still room for Perry Como, Patti Page and Sinatra. Hit songs included: Tammy, Chances Are, Fascination and April Love.
