The programming that Georgia Public Broadcasting is airing on the WRAS airwaves amounts to 42.5 hours per week of programs that are ALREADY being broadcast in Atlanta on WABE 90.1: Morning Edition (15 hours a week); All Things Considered (15 hours a week); Marketplace (2.5 hours); Weekend Edition (2 hours); Fresh Air (4 hours); and on the weekends, Car Talk, Wait Wait Dont Tell Me, This American Life, and The Splendid Table (4 hours). Some of the weekend programs are being broadcast twice by GPB (Car Talk; Wait Wait). Atlanta is being robbed of one of our cultural treasures, the cutting-edge music from student-programmed WRAS Album 88 - 88.5FM ATLANTA, during daylight hours just so GPB can engage in some sort of pissing contest with WABE, which many of us have loved and supported for decades.
