The promise of more powers may indeed be true and come to pass. - TopicsExpress

The promise of more powers may indeed be true and come to pass. The question I have on this is not a political or cynical one but an emotional and psychological one. When one person decides what powers will be handed over the power is in the hands of the person making that decision therefore the effect is to further entrench their legitimacy and right to make that decision and there is no real passing of power. Dialogue and agreement are the only way forward but that is no longer an option. We can all go back to watching people clashing swords and only hope that in another generation things will be different. As the poll suggests there was a distinct generational divide. For a while it felt that it might be possible to work together in a state where the possibility of dialogue was an option, this is now sadly not the case. There feels again that there will be little room for personal agency in a collective discussion on what that future could have been. A binary question was never going to solve all the problems we currently face and the spectrum of reasons people used in their decision could never be reflected in this. I hope when people reflect on their reasons for their choice they can say to themselves I made the right decision for me, for my family and the other humans with whom I share this country. If it was about how economically better or worse you may have been then you have only answered half the question as to reduce it to this neglects the socio-economic question which affects the mentality and emotions of all. If you voted out of nationalistic notions, and that goes for both sides, then you may have missed the point completely but that is after all only my opinion. We still have a voice, we can still discuss, inform ourselves and work for change, it will just feel a little harder.
