The protest/ Die-In @ the Christmas Parade last evening was not in protest to Montgomery police, but a public display that excessive police violence towards its citizenry is unacceptable. Your callus and politically motivated article makes no reference to the men that have died in the last few months in this country as the result of excessive police force. Your argument completely misses or dodges the real issue and question, which is why are police justified in shooting (or choking) first and asking questions later when dealing with unarmed individuals. Discharging a firearm should always be a last resort and the use of force should only be proportional to the threat faced (when there is an actual threat). Sadly, the common denominator in all of these incidents is that fear of color in our fellow citizens still exists, even within our police force. Every citizen should be outraged, and your lack of comprehension is scary and prevents you from being a part of any meaningful conversation or solution. This event was an opportunity to reiterate this situation has not been resolved; and we need to continue to discuss this in a public forum to create change in the way police officers do their jobs. Your suggestion that the goal of protests is to eliminate police completely demonstrates your complete lack of logic and understanding and shows just how tone-deaf your are to what is happening in this country.
