The puppies are eating regular food now and soon will be going to their new homes. Many have asked about Pepper and her puppies, so first the pups are Catahoola Australian Shepherd, Catausies. This is Peppers third litter and the best yet. She has been a very good mother. The herd has now been stopped in Teralinqua for more then a month now, enjoying the warmth and sunshine of the Desert South West, resting and grazing on super rich grass. There is very little here for them to eat but what there is packs a punch. There is a grocery store across the road named the Cottonwood its the only store in almost 100 miles but they sale horse feed and hay so thats been a major plus. The weather here has been phenomenal high in the 80s and lows in the 40s, with light breezes coming either off the Gulf or the Pacific. Wow what fridged weather everyone up North is having. I saw were areas in New York we rode through got 8 feet of snow....wow. The herd will be spending the winter down here grazing on Teralinqua Creek, and the Rio Grande. Early spring we will head out on our second transcontinental journey traveling through the rest of west TX, New Mexico and Colorado. We will see how far We get moving through more mountains then before. The herd will sure be in shape and ready for it. Yesterday we climbed Maverick Mountain. Going up was not to difficult the trail wasnt to bad. Coming down the mountain Abbey stumbled, fell, rolled on her front shoulder and almost didnt regain her footing before tumbling over the edge of a massive cliff. That was too close! It made my heart race a bit, sure Abbeys heart was racing to, so we took a fifteen minute break to stare over its edge into the distance and far mountains whos cliff walls shadow the Rio Grande below. I was happy to be off the ancient volcanoe and back on the desert floor below grazing, watching the sun set behind purple mountains to the west.
