The pure and magnificent artistry of Aretha Franklin - an amazing TV clip, a simply beautiful example of Arethas innate skill as a musical interpreter - and what had me marvel way back as a London teenager in the 60s at Arethas ability to bring her gift to such a diversity of material. For me, this has always been what has made - and continues to make - her peerless and unique. As much as I love the Aretha classics - and I do - this rare performance showcases how her musical phrasing and personal approach to this plaintive song makes Aretha Franklin a true artist in every sense of the word. Gorgeous.
