The pure of heart SHALL see God.... Matthew 5:8, the 56th beatitude, reads, Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. Those who live lives free of selfish ambitions, and a desire to do Good, are so loved by God that Jesus said without hesitation that these believers shall see God. We all should have the beautiful goal of being free of selfish intentions and self-seeking desires, because when we perform acts of goodness, without the added expectation of personal gain, Gods name is glorified and we become more like Christ, who selflessly gave it all, so that we may be saved. We should all aspire to the sinless and selfless life that Jesus modeled for us, as this carries with it the blessed assurance of seeing God face to face. A person who performs acts of pure selflessness is a rare and treasured gift, and brings happiness to those around them. These are the ones that are able to look beyond the sin in a persons life, and embrace the sinner with the love of the cross. They do not accept or explain away the sin, but love the sinner through and away from it, so that their lives may walk in the light. the ambition and intentions of the pure of heart are from a biblical perspective, counting their own existence as naught before the thrown of grace, accepting with joy the role of servant, for they do not want for treasures of earth, they long for the treasure stored up in heaven on their account. Blessed are these happy few, for they know true security, and we should desire the same for our own lives...Theirs is a mind of single devotion, they do not get tossed in the tides of double mindedness, they desire honoring God above all other things and they pray for the strength to live that thought in every area of their lives...May we one day know this mind and heart, and may we continually strive for this in our own walks. Let us not be like the statement of Augustine, who said sarcastically, Lord, make me chaste - but not yet. Give me chastity and continence, but not yet. O Lord, help me to be pure, but not yet. ...Seek purity now, it is the best time. _____ Selfishness is never so exquisitely selfish as when it is on its knees. ...
