The purpose of following a pre-set path in life is to serve as a guideline for us to one day create and follow our own path. Bruce Lee studied Wing Chun and later developed Jeet Kune Do. Albert Einstein studied the Physics of his time and later brought forth his own Theory of Relativity. It is important to honor and emulate our teachers and mentors; those are the individuals from which we learn the skills and techniques that benefit our lives. But ultimately, we must internalize and interpret those skills and techniques for ourselves and go on the inner and outer journeys that they take us on. Otherwise we end up living our only life knowing not even ourself because any path we follow is someone elses path, not ours. Who am I? That is the question.
