The purpose of initiation is to reveal portions of the iponri that might otherwise remain hidden. Initiation is not a one-time experience. A Yoruba proverb says Nigati ati yan mi, mo yan ara mi meaning I was initiated, I initiate myself. Initiation is not a completion it is a beginning. The link with Spirit made during initiation needs to be renewed on a regular basis for the connection to Spirit to remain fluid. If we only speak with Spirit in times of crisis, the link to Spirit becomes crisis driven leading to the expectation that crisis is part of the invocation process. Crisis driven invocation is incapable of manifesting peace and effective resolution of problems, because in time it will learn to feed on chaos. ~Awo Falokun Fatunmbi
