The purpose of yesterdays media fire against Russia seems to have been to provide the conditions under which the disastrous defeat of Ukrainian contingents could be avoided. Several tweets pointing in this direction were released this morning: The leader of Battalion Donbass, Semen Semenchenko, in Ukraine says that all senior army officers should be shot for incompetence. Alexander Zakharchenko, leader of the main rebel entity in eastern Ukraine, told a Russian television station his forces were ready to let the encircled Ukrainian troops pull out. The U.S. ambassador to Kiev, Geoffrey Pyatt, celebrated on Twitter: Russian supplied tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and multiple rocket launchers have been insufficient to defeat Ukraine armed forces.
