The quest by the rulers of the Abyssinian State to conquer the - TopicsExpress

The quest by the rulers of the Abyssinian State to conquer the Oromo Country and surrounding regions goes back about 500 years. The first successful incursion by the Amhara rulers into Oromo territory (i.e. in modern times) took place under King Sehale Selassie in the 1830’s. He claimed sovereignty over the Oromo lands which he incorporated. The Abyssinians king, Sahle Sillassie, the grandfather of Menelek, during his reign, had been very successful in his expedition; the unfortunate victims were the Finfinnee Tuulamaa—Tribe-- clan of Oromos, who inhabitated a fertile valley of today’s Addis Ababa. The royal forces fell up on them by surprise, and it is said slew about four thousand men, women, and children, drove off all their cattle, to the number. Emperor Menelik II, upon total conquest of the Oromo nation, confiscated all Oromo lands and effectively transferred the ownership to the Ethiopian State and the Emperor, as head of the state, assumed the sole power for the disposal of the newly acquired land and used the grabbed Oromo land to support the economy of the Empire, to resettle colonial settlers, the colonial settlement (Nafxaynas) functioned as a very effective agency to control the Oromo population, kept the Oromos dispossessed, virtually depriving them of the ability both economically and politically. The land grab policy remained a dominant constant political agenda during the successive Abyssinian regimes. The Military Junta which took power from Emperor Haile Selassie nationalized the rural lands and initiated new resettlement programs in the Oromo area as a measure to alleviate the famine in the North. The current Abyssinian rulers from Tigrai have similar policy of dispossessing the Oromos to deprive them of the ability both economically and politically to resettle Tigrians. In fact, Abyssinians are the hereditary enemies of the Oromos. Unless we act urgently to stop the evil move of TPLF, the damage our people are to suffer would be the worst of the past Abyssinian rulers!! Say #no2landgrab
