The question is what have I been upto? I have now finished my thrid circle of Iceland, the last tour with 14 pax, students of Chapman University in California, 19 to 21 years plus two audults, who happily got merried on the last day of the tour. What was interesting with this group is that when I asked them about what they would tell their parents about Iceland, what was the most beautiful place in the country and what would live the longest in their minds after this 12 days in Iceland. None of them mentioned Gullfoss, Thingvellir, Dettifoss, Landmannalaugar nor Geysir. They had seen much more remarkable places, experienced so many different things and enjoyed other places. This confirmed my feelings that Iceland has so much to offer away from the tourist places, which are now overloaded with visitors. Probably the most popular thing was when I took them to a puffin colony, where there were also Great Skuas and they managed to stroke the mother Skua laying in her nest with two chicks stumbling around her. They got to hold the chicks and descriped it as thrilling. bottom line, the guides best payment is when his people enjoy their tour as much as these students did. Great kids, each and everyone.
