The question of immigration boils down to just how hard you wish to eject a desperate person from your nation. Not even the most heartless, bigoted person thinks that we should deny SOME people at least political asylum. Say, if they ran to us from North Korea. At a fundamental level, you have to answer the question yourself: Would you take your family and flee to better economic opportunity, if the alternatives were abject poverty and no civil liberties? Ironically, the more we raise our barriers to migration, the more we have in non-compliance with the law. Would you do it for your family?
