The question of what makes me qualified to make these statements - TopicsExpress

The question of what makes me qualified to make these statements came up. It wasnt to be mean, but just asking. So here is my answer because Im sure others would like to know. First I graduated from Phoenix University with my BS in psychology in November 2012 with a final GPA of 3.74. The only classes that I have received a C in was Stats and algebra at Phoenix University, the rest of my grades were As and Bs. I am currently in my MS of Research Psychology and Educational Psychology at Walden University my current GPA is 3.47 with 39 hours completed out of 52. I apply for my PhP classes next month. At Walden you have to get a Masters then move on to your Dr program. Just before I entered school they combined the Research Psychology and Educational psychology classes so the final degree is determined by the Capstone class you take. I will be taking both for a duel MS degree. I certified as a hypnotist in October of 2011 from the National Guild of Hypnosis. The NGH is one of the largest guilds and are accepted world wide. That training included over 100 hours of class time with hands on training included in that time. I certified as a hypnosis instructor in September 2012 with the NGH which included another 100 hours of class time and experience. I have been a practicing hypnotist and working on this treatment method sense 2011. I was around what is currently classified as Combat PTSD most of my life. My grandfather and uncle suffered from the severe symptoms. My husband came home from Iraq in 2004 with mild passive symptoms. For me finding an effective treatment was a must it meant my marriage and husbands life. Failure was not an option in my world. My goal since I went back to school in 2009 was to find a new treatment for combat PTSD to give soldiers and families back their lives and to live normally again. I believe taking a common sense approach to mental health is the best way to treat people. In hypnosis our motto is to help everyday people with everyday problems. This is how I view combat PTSD. It is not some magical problem that appears out of the blue one day. It is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation the person was put into. I grew up the daughter of a machinist and secretary. Since I started school I have spent a couple of hours each morning on the phone with my father discussing new theories and assignments. My father was the sounding board and grounding force though the whole process of developing this treatment method and my education. He has constantly reminded and encouraged me to pursue my Drs degree and reminded me to keep it at a level that is understandable for everyone. I believe our mental health system shouldnt be a mystery where we take the doctors word for it, but should be an interactive time that the person who is asking for helps not only gets the help they are looking for, but are educated as to what the problem is, how to fix the problem, and how to change the problem in the future. I do not fix problems, I give people the tools, support, and knowledge to fix themselves. This is a new concept for mental health in general. I understand that this treatment method and philosophy will not work for everyone, but it does work well for the majority of the population and those who strive to become or continue to be independent of medication, long term treatment, and their problems. This isnt the fluffy, its going to be ok, its someone elses fault therapy. I do not sugar coat or coddle clients. This is a take control of your self and your life treatment.
