The race season didnt end as we really wanted. The bike was handling so badly in Streetfighter version I nearly got thrown off the track during qualifying. The wobbling turned to violent shaking and I had no trust in the bike whatsoever, so it went back to Minitwin version. The Kliktronic also began to play up and I wasnt sure if I had changed gear or not. We missed qualifying for Minitwins as the bike was being prepared, but was only 5.5sec off my fastest time around the track with all the issues, and this was in the wet as well. With the bike changed back I set off on the sighting lap to being the first race, but I had only gone 100yds around the first corner when the bike had a total electrical failure. Everything went quite, I couldnt change gear, so pulled the clutch in and began coasting along whilst desperately pleading with the bike to restart. No such luck and I had to leave the track. Aiming at a marshals post and waving frantically at them I slowed down a huge amount as the long grass and soft ground impeded my progress. A competitors dad recognising my predicament vaulted over the fence and came running towards me. Unfortunately I ran out of momentum, came to a grinding halt about 20yds short of safety. I had the time to decide which side to fall on, so chose the right. My right leg is held together with pins and plates, the exhaust and crash bobbins should protect the impact, and the gear shifter is on the left which is £500! I toppled over, managed to drag myself from under the bike and started bum sliding my way to safety. The father and marshals then carried me to safety and I sat on a plastic seat awaiting the arrival of my wheelchair. No one could find the problem, so in the best interests of safety we decided to call it quits. We have had a fantastic season and didnt want to ruin it with a possible scenario of a major incident on track with a stalled bike in the middle of a race where I couldnt get off the track. Big thanks to everyone involved in Talan Racing and the club racing that has made the season so amazing. We look forward to a new season in 2015 with excitement and anticipation of the challenges that lay ahead.
