The rain has just stopped; It is evening. I stand gazing at the horizon And so does he. Drizzles splash onto my face; I turn – He still stands. We look at each other, Two souls with different voices, Unable to understand each other. I wonder what he is thinking, Or if he is thinking at all. Is he waiting for someone? Perhaps he is; He looks uneasy. Does he wonder the same about me? Perhaps not. Different bodies, different songs; Yet, I feel we are the same. Both of us children of time and chance Forced by the chaos To meet here At this place, At this hour; Without reason, Without meaning. The sky clears up; The sun greets us from behind dark clouds. Its light kisses our face, Its warmth wraps us tenderly. Ah! this we both share, This we both understand. No sound uttered, No word spoken And no gesture made; Yet we connect, Yet we understand Our mothers light And our mothers warmth. I bid him farewell. He looks at me with his dark eyes And tilts his head – Perhaps he is trying to say goodbye.
