The rainy season has caused some slight difficulties in our travels through Nepal. We were planning to start hiking into Rukum tomorrow, but we were delayed because the rainy season has cause rivers to overflow, obstructing bus routes to the region. We have to go by jeep, changing jeep four times because there are three rivers that can only be crossed by a foot bridge. Because of road conditions, no jeeps will be heading in that direction until tomorrow morning, so we will spend the night in Baglung. Up to now, God has clearly manifested His power, and we know that His presence is with us. We are excited to see how God will continue to work. This last weekend, we traveled to Koshi Deka to visit the small Seventh-day Adventist Church in this desolate, mountain village. Although we were there for only one day, it was a real blessing to minister among these believers. To get to the village, we had to bounce up the mountain "highway" in the back of a pick-up truck with twenty other passengers for about two hours. Upon arrival on Friday afternoon, we found out that the truck would return to Banepa at 6:30 the next morning, so we would have to catch the noon bus, which would be the only other way out of the region that weekend. In order to make it on time, we had to change the church schedule in order to be finished by 11:15 and hike back to the bus "station". That was our plan.... Just before Peter started preaching, however, we received word that because of the rain and resulting road conditions the bus would not be coming after all. What should we do? The only other way out was to hike and that would take a few days! Around 11:10 AM, just as Peter finished the sermon, we got the message that the truck we had come in the previous day had broken down over night. The driver had just finished fixing it and would be leaving in five minutes. We grabbed our bags and ran for the truck...just in time! What a miracle God had worked on our behalf. Had the truck been fixed just ten minutes earlier, we would have been left to walk back to Banepa. This "small" incident is just one of the many opportunities we have had to experience God at work. As we move deeper into unreached regions, we are confident that He will continue to open doors and orchestrate circumstances in such a way that people will be brought from darkness to Light. Thank you for your prayers and support!
