The rare Sunday post from yet another airport. Wandering through - TopicsExpress

The rare Sunday post from yet another airport. Wandering through the Orlando airport gives me a direct contradiction with what has been in all the papers lately. We read about being overweight as a medical issue and there are many articles trying to identify the root of the issues. It could be that we were wrong about the fear of healthy protein and fat, which any good trainer could have told them 10 years ago. It could be too much sugar, which Jack LaLanne, Dave Draper and a entire generation of fitness professionals cited over 50 years ago. It could be fast food is just cheaper and the poorer people buy it because of cost, which has also been recently disproved too. Here is an idea, maybe it is just people. Watching hundreds go about their business in this airport makes me believe maybe we eat too much, move too little and take no personal responsibility for our own condition. Maybe no one cares until it is too late and then the medical system now has that person as an expensive burden. Fruit remains in the counters while the donuts go like they are free. The moving walkways are full and there are only a few walking on their own. The chubby kids are fed big sugar from chubby parents happily eating 1200 calorie burgers, fries and sugary soft drinks. My thought from an airport is that we get what we deserve and we are fat as a country because we are too lazy to move and too happy eating crap and then blaming the system. Man, I hate flying on Sundays.
