The reading from my literature class is quite interesting it - TopicsExpress

The reading from my literature class is quite interesting it speaks about a poem written by Felicia Hemans, written back in 1825. The reason I say interesting is because she writes about the rich and wealthy homes in England. The interesting part is that she is not wealthy herself. She writes the way an upperclass sees the country. Here is a quote I stopped my home work to share with you all. Hemans setting is rural England; she makes no mention of the wretched homes in city slums where exploited factory workers and their families lived at the time. The lower classes are invisible to the upper classes, who profit from them but are oblivious to their lives and welfare. (Schakel,1457). The people of this world who are in positions of power in the 20th century are the same as I read in this poem. They are too busy fighting about how much they can skim from everyone especially the poor, and not care what its effect is. Below Is a poem, not the one I was writing about; but one appropriate to the subject. Not Strong More power for me they say I am strong is the name Golliath is me who can defeat one so stable Cowards and weak is the name I am looking for not strong as they may portray because what will be the affect when its all gone one day all it will take is a pebble.
