The real issue has no racial or gender disparity.. Yes, there may - TopicsExpress

The real issue has no racial or gender disparity.. Yes, there may be cops who treat all individuals with respect and do not abuse their authority. However, that does not take away from the very REAL issue we have created by putting normal citizens in a place of authority over other citizens. These individuals have very little accountability, and are almost always protected by other law enforcing individuals no matter the decisions the police officer makes. Even if his or her decision is clearly abusive, corrupt, or malicious. Something MUST be done about this, and I fear it never will be. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I completely support the idea of cops constantly wearing a camera on their person with the ability to record sound, and without the ability to turn it off til their shift is over. These people are NO better than anyone else, meaning they are fully able to make morally corrupt choices, just as any criminal might. So why should their word ALWAYS be believed over another citizens? I know from personal experience they can and WILL easily lie for each other, manipulate statements citizens make, and I have no doubt plant or manipulate evidence. Think about how much harder that would be if they had a camera, plus they could also be protected if they are accused of being malicious when they indeed were not. Either way, this clearly should not and cannot continue. Sorry for the long post, and cudos if you read this short novel.
