The real question is... what did the manufacturer charge target? - TopicsExpress

The real question is... what did the manufacturer charge target? Since statistically speaking, Target had to buy more white barbies than African American barbies because its about sales. Most likely the white Barbie sells more than the African American Barbie does. Its simple stats and the more you buy the cheaper the price. Thats the reason why certain electronic companies tell all manufactures what they must sell their equipment at. Otherwise you get controversy like this. Think of it this way, if we were to go to the manufacturer of Barbie and look at their warehouse, I guarantee you that your white Barbie will drastically out number a Hispanic Barbie, Christmas Barbie, African American Barbie, Goth Barbie, Barbies Sister, Ken, etc..... So can we get upset at the company that its not producing the same number? No, we cant. Im not saying its right, but if you want price points to change, you have to buy certain amounts of a product. This goes the same at buying wholesale as companies like target does. I dont feel that this had anything to do racially, it just had to do with the numbers game. I feel the only reason why Target changed the price was because they spoke with the lawyers and knew this was going to happen. Target probably isnt losing money on the A.A. doll because the white Barbie and special barbies will now cover for the loss. Please understand, Im no where near to being racist. Im able to understand numbers. If the African American Barbies can start selling out on a constant basis, the manufacturer will start producing more and then the white Barbie will raise in price and become a minority in stock. Numbers, thats what it boils down to. Now where Im a little distraught is if you go to target website and type in Barbie fashionista in the search engine you get all the fashionista barbies saying to see store for pricing... but if you look closely to all the fashionista barbies all of them are wearing beautiful colored dresses except for who??? The African American Nikki doll. She is wearing dark blue tights and a halter top. Thats where we should be getting upset, and that has absolutely nothing to do with Target, that has to do with the manufacturer!
