The real reason the Galactic Empire fell is that it had a ridiculously huge military industrial complex, yet no real outside threat. Some clones? Thats it? Thats why the Rebellion got all rebellious. They wouldnt have been fighting against the government if they were constantly defending themselves from huge alien fleets that wanted to kill them or demons in hyperspace. Really what were all of those star destroyers for? And you justify the building of a moon sized space station, no two moon sized space stations, instead of investing in schools and public health, when you have no real enemies? No wonder the people are pissed off. And that is why the Imperium of Man is still around.
