The reality is that sometimes things go awry - women are not so - TopicsExpress

The reality is that sometimes things go awry - women are not so stupid that they can’t grasp that - but when they reach out to tell their stories they are often told one of two things; that they should focus on their healthy baby; and that they had unrealistic expectations of birth. But it is not unrealistic to expect that you will feel joyful when you give birth. Others.... even MOTHERS THEMSELVES.... are doing this so much to new mothers that women are now laughing at their birth stories to hide their pain.... theyre feeling guilty for feeling a biological norm.... theyre SCARED to embrace an emotionally magnificent birth desire. What is WRONG with people that you can only support a mother when things are perfect? That when you do have a great birth, youre told to be silenced because youll make people feel guilty. That when you do have an amazing breastfeeding experience, youre told to be silenced because youll make people feel guilty. Dont you dare talk about anything positive - and dont you dare talk about anything negative. Are we that damaged of a society we cant even handle the amazing body for what it is.... in all its positivity AND all its negativity? Every time someone else - especially when its another MOTHER!!! - tells a mother to silence her feelings... about pregnancy... about birth... about parenting - no matter WHAT those feelings are - good or bad - we slowly kill a little piece of our ability to love one another and create a healthy wholesome planet. How on earth could we EVER stand strong for something like PEACEFUL PARENTING if we deny intimate BIOLOGICAL feelings? STOP SILENCING MOTHERS AND START DOING YOUR PART IN HELPING THEM HEAL!!!!!! If ALL you can manage is silencing your mouth long enough to let them tell their story, then thats a little less of a burden they have to carry on their shoulders. And, if youre strong enough to believe they shouldnt feel those feelings - then you should have the strength to carry that burden for them for the few moments it takes for them to share.
