The reason I posted the story about Mr. Schramm, was to point to the fact that Peru is a big deal. Schramm was the President of the New York Stock Exchange from 1941-1951… think about that a minute. Wall Street is the home of the New York Stock Exchange, the Worlds Largest Stock Exchange by market capitalization of its listed Companies. My point is… while the United States of America was fighting the biggest war in History, Saving the world from Fascism. The Money of this country was being shepherded by a man from Peru, Indiana. A man that walked the same streets that you walk every day! Before that a man that was arguably the Greatest Song Writer that ever lived, Cole Porter, came from little Peru, Indiana. And during and after that, a man that was one of the most recognizable faces on earth, and probably one of it’s greatest most well known Entertainers, Emmett Kelly, lived among us and again walked the same streets, that you do. As the other posts from today show, countless men and women from this little city, Brigadier General Hiram Bearss, Headcoach Arthur ‘Dutch’ Bergman, Economist Frank Fetter, Author, Journalist and Suffragette Ida Husted Harper, Circus Entrepreneur Ben Wallace, have gone on to do big things for us and the rest of the Country and the World.
