The reason for our failure to compete in 3 of the 4 dynamic events at #FSG2014 was a series of problems with our engine. During skidpad our gearbox jammed and the wheels wouldnt turn, on inspection we figured that a couple of teeth on one of the gears had sheared and the gears wouldnt lock when shifted. We worked the entire night on putting together our spare engine so we could run the acceleration and autocross events the next day. Although we managed to put the engine together, during the static reliability engine run a valve of one of the cylinders got damaged. We only realised the damage late in the day and hence couldnt compete in the events on that day. In a last ditch attempt to take part in endurance we tried putting together a new engine with parts from the two damaged engines but were unsuccessful in getting the engine running in time for our endurance run. Hats off to the guys on the engine team for pulling in three nights trying to sort out our engine problems. We are disappointed to have not been able to run all the dynamic events but are proud that we never gave up till the last moment in going with the spirit of #FormulaStudent. We would like to thank all our sponsors from the bottom of our hearts for the support. Now we look forward to Formula Student India in January 2015 where we will be back with a fast car. We assure you that this is not the last you have seen of the ORI-14. We are sure she will be back stronger and faster!
