The reason we generally focus on a 24hr period with regards to diet and nutrient intake is simply due to it being an easy to track measurement of time. This does not mean the body finishes metabolizing energy and nutrients at midnight each night, or does so over 1 day increments. When this and the idea that net energy balance over a larger span of time being vastly more important, is comprehended, it starts to raise questions as to the effectiveness of some of the more drastic carb cycling protocols. I am of the belief that on the most part, day to day cycling, does little more than over complicated what should be a fairly simple equation of energy balance.
