The reason why we use our PSSM positive stock to breed from??? Because they are exemplary examples of their breed, because their bloodlines CANNOT be replaced in our programs, because they have proved that their progeny - positive OR negative - are outstanding horses both in the halter ring AND under saddle, and because you get that 50/50 chance of a neg, and a 50/50 chance of a filly, so that the bloodlines and type and temperament that you want can be carried on without worrying about PSSM. We all wish all our positive horses - symptomatic or not - were neg. Life over the last couple of years would have been so much more pleasant. I lost one of my broodmares to cancer this year, so only had one foal due. Thankfully A Designer Original* saw fit to not only give me a filly, but a pssm negative filly!! Being a strong colt producer (6 colts, 3 fillies to date) I am more than grateful and say thankyou Ridgy, you did good!! xxx
