The recent ALS Ice Bucket challenge swept the country. It seemed like everyone was posting one. No doubt, it made a statement. What if Christians made a statement on social media succinctly telling how they came to know Christ and the difference He has made in their lives? Will you take the challenge? Here goes for me: I was a 17 year old high school senior who loved to play basketball, chase girls, and drink beer with my friends. I asked this girl in my school out on a date in January of 1980. She was a Christian and asked me if I was saved. I told her I didnt know what she was talking about. After a few dates, she took me to a Young Life meeting. I hated it and told her I wasnt going there again. She refused to date me anymore ... so I asked when the next one was. The second meeting I attended, God convicted my heart. He showed me that I was a sinner and had no basis to go to heaven. Alone in my bedroom in late January 1980, I got down on my knees and asked with all sincerity for Jesus to save me. And you know what? HE DID! It was all of His grace and none of my good deeds! My life has never been the same since! He began a good work in me that night ... and has not stopped to this day. He has given me peace, joy, and purpose. He totally changed the course of my life and blessed me beyond measure. I stand amazed that He would call me into the ministry some 16 years later. If you dont know Jesus, you can know Him today. Call to Him in repentance and faith. He will save anybody who will cry out to Him. I know, because that is what He did for me.
