The recent aircraft tragedies around Indonesia remind me of flying - TopicsExpress

The recent aircraft tragedies around Indonesia remind me of flying out of Surabaja, East Java. The airport at that time was open plan and I recall sitting in the departure lounge with mosquitos buzzing about being happy that I had taken my antimalarial medicines. The aircraft for the flight fron Surabaja to Denpasar, Bail was a high-wing Fokker F-27 Friendship. Upon takeoff rotation, the door between the cabin and cockpit swung open and a flight attendant quickly jumped up and jammed a plastic water bottle between the door handle and the door frame-having done this before no doubt. This was on Garuda, the national airline.
