The recent incident in downtown Seattle near the Benaroya Concert - TopicsExpress

The recent incident in downtown Seattle near the Benaroya Concert Hall revealed to me, that a bus is a microcosm of everything you will find in the inner city, desirable or undesirable; in essence, whatever you can find there, you can find concentrated on the bus. If you wish to eliminate the violence, mental illness and poverty that stinks so bad and which you complain about, conquer the poverty and homelessness, and cure the mental illness, which all too often only needs a lousy pill taken daily to cure. You who are so proud of Seattle and so proud of how you run it, to your needle exchange add free medicines for the mentally ill who, if they had them, could work and live in dignity in a home. Forget sports stadiums and construction projects which benefit a handful of people with meaningful employment. To the medical marijuana laws and recreational pot laws which are illegal, add laws to provide what people need to get off the street. If the homeless are quarrelsome and irritable, feed them, give them a place to shower and relieve themselves and clean clothes and somewhere clean and safe to sleep. Busses will be pleasant and desirable modes of transportation again when they are not crammed to the gills with the refuse of the world because somebody did something to help where it really counts. If you want to be reelected or get elected to office, you need to acknowledge these problems and come up with programs to help your citizens. Neglecting the poor to cater to the wealthy only perpetuates everything the wealthy despise.
