The record top price for the Land Rover Sale was smashed today as Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins went to €215,000 for an outstanding son of Robin Des Champs (Lot 120). The Kenilworth House Stud-consigned three year old headed a total of four six figure sums on a spectacular opening day’s trade at Goffs, and beat the previous record of €150,000 by some margin. Major increases across the board saw a remarkable 91% clearance rate, average of €26,632 which was up 33% on last year, median of €22,000 also up 33% while turnover grew by 50% and surpassed the aggregate of the two days in 2012. Rathmore Stud offered two of the next highest priced stores, with Highflyer Bloodstock going to €130,000 for a three year old son of Flemensfirth (Lot 228) and another Robin Des Champs gelding (Lot 167) falling to Paul Nolan at €100,000. Another to make the €100,000 mark was Oak Tree Farm’s son of Presenting (Lot 39) who was purchased by Aidan O’Ryan. Full results available on goffs Following the first day of the Land Rover Sale, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby said: “A record breaking price of €215,000 was the icing on a day that surpassed even our most optimistic expectations. Trade has been so strong right from the outset - from a domestic buyer bench and the largest number of UK buyers we have ever had at the Land Rover. We are indebted to our vendors who entrusted Goffs with a superior catalogue of stores, and I hope that we have shown once again that when you send us the horses, we will achieve the prices”. The Land Rover Sale continues at 10am with another quality day of stores on offer, all eligible for the €100,000 Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown next year.
