The recordings of steel pan virtuoso Andy Narell has featured some of the cleanest , best sounding steelband ensemble recordings Ive ever heard, going back to his work with Tobagos Our Boys Steel orchestra. Quite apart from his superb performances and collaborations with other famous musicians , this performance with the little known Laborie Steel Pan band of St. Lucia demonstrates Andys attention to detail in his music , and his clarity of sound. This interpretation of Andre Tankers nostalgic hit from the 1960s Ah come back Home certainly expresses a certain poignancy that may hint at some deeper feelings that Andy may have of the place ( or places) he may think of as Home. A beautiful piece of steelpan music. The album is called Oui ma Cherie. I havent yet heard it in its entirety , but based on this sampler ,I intend to do so ASAP.
