The regional programme “Economic Integration of Women in the MENA region” (EconoWin) is looking for a Media Officer on a free-lance basis (Consultant) The regional programme “Economic Integration of Women in the MENA Region” (EconoWin) is looking for a media officer from end of November onwards who will work an average of 12 days a month as a media officer for the campaign “Ana Hunna” in Egypt (For more information on Ana Hunna, please visit ana-hunna.org; facebook/anahunna). Tasks The media officer is responsible for the media-presence of Ana Hunna Egypt. He/she coordinates the media presence of Ana Hunna Egypt, gives advice to the partners on how to best achieve media coverage, how to deal with the media, and aims at receiving a lot of positive media coverage for the initiative. • Coordinating media-presence of Ana Hunna Egypt • Establishing pool of journalists/media, and get acquainted with them • Keep the main media partners chosen in each country updated about ANA HUNNA activities, providing them also with info material about project and activities info material about the project and its activities • Organizing participation of Ana Hunna Team members in Radio, and TV shows • Give advice and feedback to Ana Hunna Team before and after interviews in radio/tv/press • Organize press conferences and similar activities addressed to journalists and media representatives • Support Ana Hunna partners (NGOs etc.) in getting media coverage for selected events • Monitor and check all outgoing ANA HUNNA communication (correspondence, any statements about ANA HUNNA), for press, TV, radio • Prepare selected activity-related outgoing material (e.g. event flyers, radio announcements etc.) • Prepare Press kit for Ana Hunna events • Responsible for media coverage for Ana Hunna final closing event • Collecting media-coverage and media-presence of Ana Hunna Egypt, and compile a media review • Take care of special guests at campaign events, make sure that they provide a statement / interview that is documented in a positive, media-effective way. Profile Applicants should fulfil the following criteria: • University bachelor’s degree in mass communication, social or political sciences or a related field • Around 4 years of work experience (in media, Public Relations, development) • Very good communication skills • High interest in gender, development work, communication an asset • Native speaker of Arabic (and surety of style) • Very good English (incl. surety of style) • Experience as a media officer Period of Assignment End of November 2013– May 2014 Work load (estimate) 12 work days / month (on average) Type of Contract Consultancy Application procedure Applicants should send their detailed CV plus motivation letter containing their previous experience, their background and motivation to the following email-address: [email protected].
