The reputation of Lagos State Government is at stake over the collapsed building at the Synagogue Church which had led to the death of almost 70 souls. Preliminary report indicate that the said building had no building approval. In other word, it was an illegal building. The Prophet has said a plane cum boko haram was responsible for the collapsed building. The question is whether boko haram was also responsible for its failure to obtain building approval. Now, Lagos State Government has been consficating properties that collapsed in Lagos State. Several properties belonging to poor and the downtrodden were forcefully seized because such building collapsed and the owner failed to obtain building approval. Babatunde Fashola should enforce the law in the spirit of equality. 70 souls were lost in that collapsed building because some people cut corners. We demand a panel of enquiry into why that building was without construction permit. If panel could be instituted because some buses were damaged, a panel should be constituted over this criminal waste of human lives. We have building control in Lagos being funded with tax payers money. Shouldnt government commence immediate check on building housing worship centers? Whether churches or mosques, no one has the right to flout the law of the land. This is where you expect the human right activists to say something but as usual, they have gone asleep. They can write treatises on Jonathan campaign hashtag but matter concerning lives is never their concern. It is high time those saddled with governing us be made to perform or be shipped out. Finally, those who lost loved ones or were injured at the synagogue have right of action against the church. Gone are the days when any pastor or bishop can do anyhow. No matter how high you are, everyone is under the law!
