The requirement for buildings to provide wheelchair access is - TopicsExpress

The requirement for buildings to provide wheelchair access is being scrapped under new earthquake strengthening rules. How do you feel about this? And one of our reporters spends a day in a wheelchair to see just how difficult things can be, and why good access is so important. As you watch the clip, please reflect on the people you might know at some stage of their life who may be an access-user. Friends and families with baby prams, your mom and dad or nana and grandad in walking chairs or stick. Or a friend on crutches who fell down from one too many trips to the ski-field. Disability and old-age are two life stages that all of us will enter regardless of gender or ethnicity. Please think ahead to the day when each of us will become an access-user. The future is in our hands, your future is in your hands. 3news.co.nz/Disability-access-upgrades-scrapped/tabid/817/articleID/323112/Default.aspx
