The residents living near the under construction airport at Pakyong have requested the state government to compensate and rehabilitate the families whose houses and land has developed cracks due to the construction work. Houses of around 165 families have developed cracks because of the heavy machines used. There is also seepage in the house during the rainy season, with water flowing inside many houses. The families are living in a miserable condition and need urgent attention from the state government. It has become very dangerous for the affected families to live in the damaged houses. Five houses have already collapsed. The construction work started five years back. Damage assessment work has been completed by the authorities but compensation and rehabilitation is still awaited.
