The response to Lilys events in Brigham City on October 1 and - TopicsExpress

The response to Lilys events in Brigham City on October 1 and Layton on October 10 was very gratifying. Forty-three people attended the presentation in Brigham City---the organizers had told us they usually have fifteen people in the audience, so that was an exceptional turnout. About 2/3 of the group were Japanese Americans who had been in camp, or had friends and relatives who had had that experience. One woman said, When I dont close a door, and people say, Were you born in a barn?, I just say, Yes, at the Santa Anita racetrack in 1942. At last nights event in Layton, there was a fellow who was born in the camp at Amache where Lily spent four years of her childhood. Several of the audience members shared family stories of how their Caucasian families interacted with the Japanese Americans who were interned.
