The reviews of Painted In Blood are starting to filter through, heres one from the good people over at Silver tiger Media - Wollongong based metal outfit are days away from releasing their finest work to date!! Devotees of metal should not delay, and Australians should be proud. Regardless of whether thrash metal, death metal, heavy metal or any derivative thereof, are to your aural appreciation, one cannot help but recognize the genuine article at the peak of their game. From the first track I find myself helplessly, and yet willingly cast into SEGRESSIONs whirlwind of vehement melodious magnificence. The title track (Painted in Blood) introduces us to a collection of true anthems for anger. I listen intently and find myself spitting venom back in recollection at every negative and unwanted asshole in recent week’s intent of thrusting themselves in to my existence. Subsequently track two, Refuse to React prepares me for the next unwanted interjection. Who will dare now and suffer the imagined fate that met those who erred before? Killing Kingdom is a thoroughly relentless assault on the senses and leaves you gasping for breath. Chris Rand has perfected the harmonious demonic growl and given it a life all its own as vocal highs and lows are achieved flawlessly. His ability to move from hellish howling into a genuinely pleasing rock voice is extremely enjoyable. The guitar excellence of Michael Katselos and Sven Sellin shine magnificently in all tracks but most particularly Grounded and Pale Beneath. From machine gun like assault on listeners to the surgical skill demonstrated in solo performances these axe wielding orators of guitar grinding insanity are thoroughly brilliant. I have no idea how the skins have wronged Adam Bunnell. Suffice it to say that it must have been an extremely heinous transgression to warrant such an act of percussive violence. His commanding performance during War Cry is nothing short of brilliant. The accompanying tracks allow Adam off the leash, but this one actually required a great deal of skill and restraint. Perfectly played out as Adam moves from skin to frame tapping and back. This is the type of metal drummer who would have haters of metal unwillingly moshing uncontrollably. My cervical joining thoracic cry out in mosh provoked agony as this album keeps on delivering. I am helpless to stop as they collectively Scar Me Now. Song 28 intices listeners into a trance like reflection of the world about them, in lyrical and rhythmic contemplation. The brilliant aspect of this album is simply that each track has its own feel and rhythmic soul. I am loathed to draw any comparison to perceived influences. This is one of those rare occasions that reference to any other act is superfluous and unnecessary. Extremely well done SEGRESSION. Painted In Blood is splendid masterpiece of Nu Metal majesty. 9/10 Casper De Ro Ro
