The revival in our fortunes continued this afternoon as we held - TopicsExpress

The revival in our fortunes continued this afternoon as we held the Swineshead Reserves side who sat atop the league at the start of play to a 2-2 draw. The game was an open and exciting affair as both teams played some fantastic possession based Football. We were going toe to toe with our visitors and more than holding our own. It was the men in orange who broke the deadlock when a glorious cross was whipped in by James Hawkes and a spectacular diving header from Joe Bradbury bustled the net to give us a 1-0 lead. Our opponents then rushed in to a 2-1 lead as the rain poured and the wind blew. Firstly, a centre back notched from a corner and then, after another well executed corner the ball ball broke in the six yard box and a man in blue was on hand to lash it home. The second half saw Fosdyke take the initiative and for twenty minutes pressed and pressed until finally we achieved a breakthrough. Clever hold up play from Martyn Patterson lead to a defense splitting ball finding its way to Dan Sam who rolled the ball across the keeper in to the net to level. Both teams had third goals ruled out for offside - great work from Adam Ellis set up first Martyn Patterson and then Nathan Smith who poked the ball home but the youngster had seemingly wandered off side. It could have gone either way but the points being shared was a fair result. Man of the Match - lots of positives today. Simon Hyland was at his industrious best in the middle and Dynamite Dan Sam alongside him was here, there and every where but the accolade this week goes to the ever improving Tom Collins at left back for a performance that mixed tough tackling and composed play.
