The ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the St. - TopicsExpress

The ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the St. Louis District Flood Protection Project, taking place Friday, Nov. 14, is tied to the historic Flood of 1993. During this record-setting flood, a section of the wall near the Riverview Drive pump station began seeping water at an alarming rate, and numerous sand boils developed. At the time, the river was a mere two feet from the top of the flood wall. Crews from the Corps’ Emergency Operations team, the Metropolitan Sewer District and the City of St. Louis successfully worked together to reinforce the floodwall and protect the people and property behind it, but the problems encountered during that and subsequent floods highlighted a need for reconstruction on the system. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. November 14 at 9100 Riverview Drive in St. Louis in front of Commercial Plating, Co. bit.ly/1u2Ryih
