The role of Australian organisations in supporting Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) was highlighted at a joint event hosted by Austraining International and UnitingWorld in Sydney last week. More than 70 people gathered to hear the experience of returned volunteer Elizabeth Mullan, Host Organisation representative ‘Aioema ‘Atiola, Australian Partner Organisation contact Laura McGillvray, and Austraining representative Stephanie McConachy. The evening was hosted by Kathy Pereira of Uniting World. Uniting World have supported 18 assignments as an Australian Partner Organisation, in Tonga, the Philippines, PNG, Indonesia, the Solomon Islands and Kiribati.
