The rout of BJP in Uttarakhand bye elections of Doiwalla, Someshwar and Dharchulla constituencies is almost an end of bonhomie of electorates with Modis magic wand of achhe din anye wale hai slogan, which not long before successfully brought electoral dividends to it and defeated the Congress by 5-0. So what can be the reason of this 0-3 defeat of BJP? During these two months nothing was witnessed in the affairs of the Congress Party or any sign of improvements either in its functioning or policy matters, so that voters can repose their faith in it. Even at state level neither there was a remarkable improvement of the functioning of the government nor in party except parachute dropping of Kishore Upadhyay as a state president with increased rucks in rank and file. Or if there were some minor improvements in both governance and organization, I think these were not enough for this type of victory. And remember when there are limited choices what the voters can do? If the choice is to choose between a pit and a gorge, naturally for saving the life, people would opt for pit. Then what can be the reason? As I wrote before in my posts on political economy of the Modi sarkar that voters bonhomie with Modi will depend upon how modinomix tackle the economy and the issue of price rise? This is because, the voters overwhelmingly voted against the inflationary economic policies of the manmohnomix in favor of Modi that achhe din anye wale hai in the form of reduced prices of essential commodities and if cant bring down then stabilize, but not allow to increase or hike. But Modi proved himself a fast runner of manmohnomix in the form of modinomix, which, infact, was a old wine in new bottle. First onion, then potato, tomato and then sugar and other essential commodities and a big and final blow was the pre-budget hike in railway fares etc. The voters felt themselves robed and in Uttarakhand they got this opportunity to slap on the face of BJP within two months. It is a big wake up call for Modi sarkar as well as BJP. For time being, it is honeymoon as well as spring for congress, which by default fell on its lap.
