The saga of replacing a refrigerator continues! Last week we - TopicsExpress

The saga of replacing a refrigerator continues! Last week we bought a Haier refrigerator from Lowes. Monday it was delivered. I get a call from my hubby to tell me that the door handles had to be switched to the right side which places them against an outside wall. I am not happy BUT then he explains that the good thing is you actually have to push the door shut! I have yet to figure out why that is a good thing. When I arrive home, the beast is installed and I realize that the reason the door wont shut is because the walls arent plumb. Keep in mind that we did take accurate measurements but we didnt realize that some refrigerator doors extend and inch or more when they are opened--thus the reason for the door handles being switched. My very meek and mild husband agrees to call Lowes to appease me and to see if we can get another refrigerator. They agree so Tuesday after I arrive home from school, armed with measurements, etc. we head for Lowes and pick out another refrigerator. I am happy and Allen is happy because he is now out of the dog house. The refrigerator was to be delivered yesterday (Friday). I call and Allen tells me there is a problem. The dolly broke while in transit and left not only a dent in the door but red paint. We are assured that a new refrigerator will be here today between 8 and 10 a.m. Ten oclock and no refrigerator so we call. They tell us that they think it is scheduled to be delivered on Sunday but will call back. In less than 1 hour we were scheduled to meet with family at Frisches so at 10:30, I call back. A very apologetic clerk tells us that she is so sorry but the refrigerator we purchased was on clearance and there were no more and that we would have to come and pick out another one. We made it to the meal with one minute to spare and spent 45 minutes measuring, refunding the difference between the 2nd refrigerator and the 1st and figuring out the difference between the 1st refrigerator and the 3rd. We are home finally. Refrigerator # 1 remains pulled out from the wall taking up needed space, but its all relative and sometime in the not to distant future, refrigerator # 3 will arrive. After we add gravel to the driveway where the delivery truck left huge ruts, all will be well.
