The same thing is happening in UK. The church has just published a report about the huge number of people having to use food banks in this country...not the scroungers the politicians like to wail on about. Many of these people are in full time work but are not earning enough money to keep up with their utility bills, etc. It is disgraceful that in the 21st century people can be forced into this position. Then, in school, their children are now to be labelled the disadvantaged and we are charged with educating them for a fine future as compliant citizens. How can you expect this from a child who hasnt enough to eat and whose house is so cold it is impossible to get enough sleep? Where are our heroes now in this land? They are diverted with political rhetoric about the terror threat, the immigrant threat, etc, etc. and all the time evil stalks our countries with impunity, driving down the very people who build the institutions now run by the corrupt and morally worthless. When the world that gives us our food and our air is prioritised below the profit line of big business...? This is what you get. A morally corrupt, elitist society who has no interest in the suffering it causes. Where are the people who still belief in the Nolan principles of public life? They are in the hospitals, the schools, the emergency services, jumping through hoops to try and do all that is needed for the people they serve whilst budgets are savagely cut and the blame culture is wound ever tighter like a noose around the neck of the common people. Never have I been more proud to be one of those common people...and never have I felt more despair!
