The scenario is right now, we are in the fourth day of a government shutdown. There is no arguing that fact. There has been discussions of the affordable care Act. Paying veterans, providing for WIC, paying security and law enforcement. All of which I understand, being a women, a veteran and a senior citizen. I want to turn my attention to the constant failure to pass the farm bill. This is the heart beat of our food supply, the backbone of the country. There has been devastating fires in callifornia, Flooding in Colorado and other states, New jersey had a double hit with Hurricane Sandy, then the fire in the same area. Now Hurricane Karen has her evil eye on the Gulf Coast States. I think you get that, the Farm Bill has been ignored, which if not addressed could result in rising food prices. I have some suggestions if this happens. I always have found it laughable to use coupons from the newspaper, and the flyers that were at the entrance of some stores. Not anymore, I am now an avid couponer, and I run straight for the flyers when I enter the store. Secondly, I cannot wait to show the cashier, my little plastic tag on my keyring, that signifies that I am a customer in good standing, this will on certain food items get me a discount. Third, and this applies to Seniors, it would behoove you to research wheather you grocery chain has a senior ciitizens day. Now, I have a nationwide chain that has a senior citizens day (Thursday), (Discount 1), usage of my plastic keyring, (Discount 2), and Coupon use and flyer (Discount 3). So I am absolutely giddy when Thursday comes around, cause I am a Triple threat on that day.
