The scrapes taken from Girlies ears and back (shes the standard - TopicsExpress

The scrapes taken from Girlies ears and back (shes the standard poodle with Addisons (and a whole loads of other conditions) have come back clear - no fungal/bacterial infection whatsoever ...... vets have put their heads together and dusted the skin conditions in dogs books to diagnose a rare condition (but more common in Standard Poodles) ...... Sebaceous Adenitis - inflammation of the sebaceous or oil gland associated with the hair follicles. Loss of the sebaceous gland leads to dysfunction of normal hair growth which results in hair loss. The underlying cause is probably a combination of genetic predisposition and immune-mediated sebaceous gland inflammation. First case the vets have ever seen and now researching best way forward ..... not treatable just about how best to manage. Explains why her hair hasnt really been growing and is very thin ........... bless that complicated dog ..... any ideas anyone?
