The second characteristic of ego is the creation of a fake identity. Humans get a profession, acquire a social and family role and then they get attached to those roles that become their primary identity. In that way, they lose their true selves in the process of becoming part of a group and have to dress, act, speak and think all the same. It is not their spiritual nature and true identity that is moving them, but their social roles, which become more important than their true spiritual nature. Wayne Dyer
