The second longest stage of the 2014 Tour de France was a relatively flat stage, and featured only two small climbs during the last 20km. The first climb, Côte de Maron, was 3.2km long with a 5% slope. Riders covered this small hill in 5´26” at an average speed of 33.3kph. The second climb, Côte de Boufflers, was shorter; at 1.3km long with a gradient of 7.9%, the climb was completed in 2´53” at 27.08kph. The average speed during the last 10km of the race was 48.19kph, while the last kilometer had an average speed of 56.25kph. Matteo Trentin took the narrow lead until the finish line, at 250m to go, winning by less than the width of one tubular (+/-2cm). Those last 250m were devoured in a short 13”05-burst at an average speed of 66.6kph. The speed advantage while wearing the S-Works Evade helmet, sprinting at such a speed, equates to around 0.2/0.3kph. This means 1.6m of advantage on the last sprint compared to a standard road helmet. Another marginal gain helping to launch Specialized riders to victory! #WEW1N
